A Father's Love

This poem just kinda came to me.  For my daddy...

A Father's Love:

A father's love is home made ice cream,
An old Jeep Scrambler,
Picking blackberries,
And lazy Sundays.
A father's love is learning music,
"Green Eggs And Ham",
"The Cat In The Hat",
And "Horton Hears A Who".
It's Lincoln Logs,
Remote controlled cars,
LEGO towers
And giant spiderwebs.
A father's love is learning to read,
Two new sisters,
One new brother,
And a wicked-cool new mom.
It's days in the driveway,
Working on cars,
"Daddy, what's that?"
And never getting tired of "Why?"
It's South Park on Saturdays,
A falcon on a barbed wire fence,
Margaritas and Mexican,
And "Extra mild sauce, please!"
It's "More Than Words",
"Now And Forever"
"She Talks To Angels"
And lots and lots of Creed.
A father's love is encouragement.
Museums,
Dinosaur books,
A guitar pick necklace,
And a million and one bear hugs.
It's a blue dually with a burn mark in the floorboard,
The smell of cold air, leather, cigarette smoke, and cologne.
It's a grape-scented t-shirt,
And learning to shoot tequila.
A father's love is a lifetime of laughs.
Identical smiles,
Fun personalities,
And the best friend I could ever hope to have.

I love you, daddy.  :)

Scooter Out.
